John Goodman Joins KONG: SKULL ISLAND

John Goodman is the latest actor to join Legendary Pictures' Kong: Skull Island. He will be playing a character named Randa, a government official who leads an expedition to Skull Island.

The story follows Tom Hiddleston as he and his team of explorers venture to the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes. The adventure will take them deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. According to Legendary, the "story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline." It was previously revealed that the film would be set in Detroit in 1971, but it's unclear whether that is still the case.

The movie is being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer), and the cast also includes Brie Larson, Toby Kebbell, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Wilkinson. The project is expected to start shooting this fall, and will hit theaters on March 10th, 2017.

I just hope Samuel L. Jackson says, "Hold on to your butts."
