John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds' Fantasy Comedy Film Project Gets a New Title and Release Date
A Quiet Place director and star John Krasinski is set to direct Ryan Reynolds in an upcoming fantasy comedy for Paramount Pictures titled If. The movie was originally announced with the title Imaginary Friends.
The movie was previously supposed to be released in theaters on November 17th, 2023, but it will now hit theaters on May 24th, 2024.
The story for the movie tells the tale of a man “who can see and talk to people's imaginary friends, befriending those that have been forgotten or discarded. However, some imaginary friends, lacking love and friendship, turn to the dark side, and it's up to Reynolds' character to save the world from those that become evil."
I absolutely love this story concept, and it’s going to be interesting to see how that story ends up playing out. On top of directing, Krasinski also wrote and will also star in the movie. If also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Indiana Jones 5), Cailey Fleming (The Walking Dead, Marvel's Loki), Louis Gossett Jr. (Watchmen, The Color Purple), Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, Killing Eve), Alan S. Kim (Minari, Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens), as well as Krasinski's former The Office co-star Steve Carell.
It was also announced that the release of Paramount’s A Quiet Place prequel has moved from September 22nd, 2023, to spring 2024. That film is titled A Quiet Place: Day One, and it’s being directed by Michael Sarnoski.
