John Krasinski Thinks You'll Be More Scared in A QUIET PLACE PART II Because You Care About the Characters This Time Around

In a red carpet interview earlier this month, at the premiere of the anticipated sequel A Quiet Place Part II, director John Krasinski talked to Extra Butter about making the movie, which he calls “a thank you note to the audience that came out on the first one.” He said he thinks people will be even more scared while watching the sequel. He explains:

I think you’re gonna be really scared. I mean the truth is, I think again organically you’re more scared because you care about these characters. In the first movie you were getting to know them. Now you know them, you don’t want anything to happen to them. The sound’s much more intense because you know the rules of sound. And so it’s almost like my point was to make the audience part of the movie.

That makes sense. Fans are invested in these characters now, and as they are connected, they have a greater hope, and thus a greater fear for them.

Here’s the synopsis for the sequel:

Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

A Quiet Place Part II was originally supposed to be released in theaters on March 20th, but has now been pushed back to a date yet to be determined. We will let you know as soon as we do. Are you excited to see the film?
