John Krasinski's SOME GOOD NEWS YouTube Series Reunites the Cast of Broadway's HAMILTON to Perform the Opening Song
Last week, we were treated to a wonderful new web series called Some Good News, made by actor and director John Krasinski, who you know and love from The Office and A Quiet Place. Episode one was filled with good news of people helping one another in their communities, a girl beating cancer and getting a wonderful welcoming home, and a special reunion between Krasinski and Steve Carell on the 15th anniversary of The Office. If we thought the goodness couldn’t get any better, we were wrong. Krasinski’s second episode of Some Good News dropped last night, and it is just as heart-warming as the first.
In episode two, we are treated to the news of companies and families working hard to help our heroes in the medical field, as well as teachers thinking outside the box to help their students flourish, a Culver’s fast food employee who learns from her principal in the drive through that she is her school’s valedictorian, and so many more great pieces of news.
One really fun segment was when John called a 9-year old girl, who was very disappointed that her dream of going to see Hamilton was taken by the pandemic. He assured her that once this was all done, he would fly her to New York to see the show on Broadway, but also introduces her to his wife, Emily Blunt, whom she loves from Mary Poppins Returns. But just as they are downplaying Lin-Manuel Miranda’s role in the movie, Miranda himself pops in as well as the rest of the original Broadway cast, who performs the opening song from the show, blowing this little girl’s mind!
It blew my mind too! I just cried and cried, because that’s what videos like this make me do. It’s so dang good, and I can’t wait to see what else Krasinski has up his sleeve in future episodes. Check it out below, and enjoy!
