John Mulaney Bringing Us a Wonderfully Weird Holiday Children's Special JOHN MULANEY & THE SACK LUNCH BUNCH at Netflix

Comedian John Mulaney is so hilarious. He has such epic stand-up specials and spent a long time writing for Saturday Night Live and other great series like Documentary Now!. We also saw him make appearances on The Jim Gaffigan Show, Crashing, and as the voice of Spider-Ham in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, as well as his regular spot on the animated Netflix series, Big Mouth. He’s one of my absolute favorite comedians, and now we get to see something different from him.

Mulaney is bringing a holiday special to Netflix called John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch. Rolling Stone reported that the special is described as, “a children’s variety show that aims to ‘“recapture the magic of that bygone television era when children sang songs about their feelings with celebrity guests on funky outdoor sets.”’

Mulaney added in a statement:

“I’m John Mulaney and I am a 37-year-old man. The Sack Lunch Bunch is a group of children ages 8 to 13 who are more talented than me.”

He went on to say:

“The result is a collage of Broadway caliber showstoppers, comedy sketches for all ages, meditations on the unknown from children and adults, and a papier mache volcano. It’s funny, musical, joyous, anxious and surprisingly profound.”

Some of the special guests that will visit the special are David Byrne, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natasha Lyonne, Andre De Shields, Richard Kind, Shereen Pimentel, and Annaleigh Ashford. John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch is set to hit Netflix on December 24th. I’ll be tuning in! Will you?
