John Rhys-Davies and Jerry O’Connell Are Talking With NBC About a SLIDERS Revival
Do you remember the 1995 sci-fi series Sliders? That’s a show that I haven’t really thought about in years, but it was a fun show to watch!
The series focused on a group of scientists who discover ways to slide into parallel universes. As they travel to different parallel universes, they get lost and have to try and find their way back home.
It turns out that series stars John Rhys-Davies and Jerry O’Connell want to make a revival series and Rhys-Davies says that they are currently in talks with NBC about making it happen! While talking to Flickering Myth, he said:
“Jerry had been pestering me for a number of years and we’re actually talking to NBC at the moment to see if there’s any possibility of rebooting the series. They’re looking into the basic question of who actually owns it? At the moment we don’t seem to be able to find that out.”
Sliders ran for three season on Fox before it was canceled. After that the SyFy Channel picked it up and it ran there for two more seasons. With NBCUniversal as the distributor apparently there are some difficulties figuring out the rights, but if they do figure it out, maybe it will happen!
While Davies left the show in the middle of the third season after Fox moved production from Vancouver to Los Angeles, he’s still very much interested in returning for a revival:
“I would do it again, if just to show how it should be done. It could have been the best show on television, it could still be on the air. I think maybe if we got another chance at doing it with the new technology, but also new stories, I think we could do something quite extraordinary. I wouldn’t want to do it for the rest of my life, but I would do it for a season or two if it was right.”
I actually wouldn’t mind seeing a Sliders revival with the original cast. That could be a ton of fun! Would you be interested in seeing a Sliders revival series?
