John Turturro Talks About Upcoming THE BIG LEBOWSKI Spinoff Film GOING PLACES
In an in-depth interview with the UK news outlet Independent, John Turturro opened up about his big break, the different phases of his career, and the role fans have been waiting patiently for him to continue.
Turturro is writing, directing, and starring in the upcoming film Going Places, in which he will reprise his role of Jesus Quintana from the Coen Brothers’ dark comedy hit The Big Lebowski. Here’s what he had to say about the story for the upcoming spinoff:
“It’s a bit of a racy movie. It shows how stupid men are. That’s what the movie is kinda about – the women are the stronger, more together characters. I had to tweak it a little bit but now I feel really good about it. It’s basically an exploration of Jesus getting out of jail. It’s a comedy but a very human comedy.”
This sounds so fantastic. Turturro’s character in The Big Lebowski was so over the top and hilarious. I can’t wait to see it expanded. He then went on to assure that the Coen Brothers have given him the go ahead and are totally supportive of the film idea.
“They’re my friends, close friends, and were supportive when I said I wanna explore this character more. They said, you gotta do it cos we’re not doing it! If I have something to show, I show it to them if they’re around.”
That is great news! The film has an all-star cast that also includes Susan Sarandon, Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou, Gloria Reuben, Pete Davidson, and J.B. Smoove, and is in post-production, which means we will hopefully see it very soon! Are you a The Big Lebowski fan? Will you be seeing Going Places? Let us know below.
