JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4 Director Says Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen Fight Scene Is "Something We Haven't Seen Before"

One of the most exciting aspects of John Wick: Chapter 4 is that Donnie Yen joined the cast and that we are going to get to see him fight Keanu Reeves! Donnie Yen is one of the most badass martial arts action stars working today, and to see him jump in into the John Wick franchise is so damn cool!

Now director Chad Stahelski is teasing the fight sequence between Reeves and Yen saying that they wanted to do something that we haven’t seen before. The fight choreography team was really looking to step it up and take the talents of these two actors to the next level:

“So, it always comes down to, I can do the Donnie Yen triple kick. I can do all this, but you also want to do something different. So, you start sitting, you come at it from character, and you have a lot of discussions with the guys going, 'Okay, Donnie is amazing at this. Keanu is amazing at this. They're both great actors, so let's lean onto that, and let's do something we haven't seen before.'

So what did they do to up the ante with this fight scene? Stahelski said:

So now, that Donnie Yen with a sword and a pistol and Keanu with a samurai sword and a couple of pistols and throwing an AR-15 and a glass mirror room with Japanese artifacts. And yeah, throw in a couple of dogs, and let's see what happens.

Well, crap… I can’t wait to see what happens! It sounds like this fight sequence is going to be awesome!

In John Wick: Chapter 4, Wick faces off with new enemies and reunites with old friends on his mission to destroy the villainous High Table once and for all.

The cast for John Wick: Chapter 4 also includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Clancy Brown, Ian McShane, and Bill Skarsgard as the sinister main villain.

The movie is currently scheduled to open in theaters on May 27th, 2023.
