JOHN WICK Co-Director David Leitch Might End Up Directing DEADPOOL 2
Since director Tim Miller dropped out of the Deadpool sequel, fans have been wondering who Fox would bring in to take the reins. Some interesting information was released recently that offered some insight into what caused the rift between Miller and Reynolds, and they just had completely different visions of where the sequel should go. Reynolds' vision ended up winning, which I thought was the right move because according to the report it stayed true to the vision they started out with. We now know who could be the director to bring that vision to the big screen!
According to Mashable, John Wick co-director David Leitch is a “strong frontrunner” for the Deadpool 2 directing job. This is a choice that I doubt any fan will have a problem with! John Wick was a beautifully directed badass action film. Chad Stahleski was the other director on the film, and together they own and operate a fight choreography and stuntman studio named 87Eleven Action Design.
The report goes on to say that there are several other directors up for the gig, but Leitch is their first choice. No official offer has been made yet, "but by most accounts, 20th Century Fox has found its man."
This also wouldn't be the first time that Leitch and Reynolds worked together. Leitch happened to be the action coordinator on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which introduced Reynolds as Wade Wilson. Leitch also worked on a few other Fox film projects as a stuntman. Some of those films include Blade, Daredevil and Fight Club.
Leitch would be a solid director for Deadpool 2. There's no doubt we'd see even more insane action and fight sequences in the sequel. What do you think about the possibility of Leitch taking on the film?
