JOHN WICK Director Chad Stahelski Hired To Craft Some New Action Scenes For DC's BIRDS OF PREY
The director of the John Wick films, Chad Stahelski has been hired by Warner Bros. to craft some additional action sequences for Margot Robbie’s DC film Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
His work on the film will be uncredited, but he’s going to use his talents to pump up the action and make sure audiences have some badass fight sequences to enjoy while watching the movie. He’s been crafting action sequence as a stunt coordinator for years and I’ve loved how he’s handled the John Wick franchise. It’ll be awesome to see what he ends up bringing to Birds of Prey.
It’s explained that Stahelski will “tackle and design new action scenes for the movie. In some ways, this is Stahelski doubling down on the movie as his company, stunt firm 87 Eleven, has been working on the movie since production began.”
Cathy Yan is directing the film and Robbie is joined by Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary; Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress; Rosie Perez as Detective Renee Montoya; Ella Jay Basco as Batgirl Cassandra Cain; Ewan McGregor as the villainous Black Mask; and Chris Messina as the serial killer, Victor Zsasz.
The movie is said to be an R-rated "girl-gang movie," and in the film Harley Quinn, Huntress, and Black Canary will team up to protect Cain when she comes across a diamond belonging to McGregor’s Black Mask, a kingpin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
Birds of Prey is set to be released on February 7th, 2020.
