Johnny Depp Set To Direct MODIGLIANI, an Al Pacino Produced Film About Italian Artist Amedeo Modigliani
Johnny Depp is jumping back into the director’s seat for the first time in 25 years with a new Al Pacino-produced film project titled Modigliani. The film is about the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
The movie is based on a play by Dennis McIntyre and it will tell the story of “the painter and sculptor in Paris in 1916. Modigliani will chronicle the life of the Italian artist across a turbulent and eventful 48 hours.” The script was written by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski.
Barry Navidi is also a co-producer on the film, and it will be his fourth collaboration with Pacino. They previously teamed on films such as The Merchant Of Venice (2004), Wilde Salomé (2011), and Salomé (2013). Depp and Pacino also have worked together in the past and they starred opposite each other in the 1997 crime film Donnie Brasco.
There’s no word on if Depp will also star in the film. The project is aiming to shoot in 2023. The last movie that Depp directed was 1997’s The Brave, in which he also starred alongside Marlon Brando.
