Johnny Lawrence Starts Teaching Karate in New Teaser Trailer For COBRA KAI
"Strike first. Strike hard. No Mercy"
We've got a new teaser trailer for you to watch for YouTube Red's new series Cobra Kai, which continues the story of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament in the calssic film The Karate Kid.
In the trailer we see Johnny Lawrence reopen the Cobra Kai dojo and start teaching kids the style of karate that was taught to him. There's also a fun little gage at the end that will make fans of the original film laugh, especially if you remember the way that Daniel was that was taught karate by Mr. Miyagi.
The story revolves around a down and out Johnny who, seeking redemption, reopens the infamous Cobra Kai dojo. This reignites his rivalry with a now-successful Daniel, who is living his life as a family man and proud owner of the No. 1 car dealership in the Valley. He has also been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi (the late Pat Morita).
The show is also said to follow the duo "addressing demons from their past and present frustrations — through (what else?) karate." You'll be happy to hear that the series will be faithful to the original movie.
Cobra Kai also stars Xolo Maridueña (Parenthood), Tanner Buchanan (Designated Survivor), Courtney Henggeler (Mom) and Mary Mouser(Freakish). Ed Asner will also guest star.
The series comes from Harold and Kumar franchise creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and Hot Tub Time Machine writer Josh Heald.
