JOKER Director Shares New Image and Confirms R-Rating
Director Todd Phillips has shared a new image from Joker featuring Joaquin Phoenix in the title role. As you will see, he is applying his white makeup to his face. The filmmaker also confirmed that the movie will be rated-R. When asked about the rating on social media he responded:
"It will be rated R. I've been asked this a lot. Just assumed people knew. Sorry."
It’s not really a surprise that the film would be rated R. Like he said, I just assumed people knew that the movie was going to get the R-rating! That first trailer that was released was super dark and tragic. But, for any of you that had any doubt, this is the definitive answer you were looking for.

Here’s the synopsis:
Joker centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
The film also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, and Marc Maron.
Joker will be released in theaters on October 4th, 2019.
