JOKER Is Going to Become the Highest Grossing R-Rated Film of All Time

Warner Bros. didn’t really want to make Joker. They didn’t have any faith in it. They didn’t think anyone would see it and it was going to bomb at the box office. The studio gave director Todd Phillips a small budget in hopes that it would discourage him from making the movie.

Well, Joker is laughing its way to the top! THR is reporting that the film is on its way to becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time at the global box office! The current record holder is Deadpool with $783 million.

Joker currently has a global total of $737.5 million, and it’s expected to “ultimately take in close to $900 million globally; some even think it has a shot at approaching $1 billion.”

That’s pretty crazy! The movie has exceeded everyone’s expectations! It also is more proof that the studio system has no real vision for these kinds of films. The same thing happened with Deadpool. The executives at the studio all thought it would fail and then it exploded at the box office!

Why do these studio execs doubt the power of fandom and the talent that they hire to make their movies? It makes me wonder how many other projects have been passed on over the years that they thought would fail that would have been huge hits. You know it has happened! The sad thing is… they’ll still continue to have a lack of faith in projects like this.
