Jon Bernthal Is Ready for The PUNISHER Solo Series When Marvel Comes Callin’

Last week the head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb denied any talk of a Punisher spinoff series for Netflix. That doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen, though. I think there’s a good chance it will happen, and if it does, Jon Bernthal will be ready when Marvel comes calling. During an interview with Empire, Bernthal talked about the character he plays in Daredevil season two, saying:

"This guy is very much burned into my heart and soul. I think about him all the time. And I look at it the same way Frank would look at it. I’m a soldier, man. If they call on me, I’ll stand to attention and I’ll be ready."

He went on to talk about Frank Castle's feelings about the idea of Daredevil running around Hell’s Kitchen:

"Frank is so filled with rage and despair that this idea of a guy prancing around in a costume with little horns beating up bad guys is absurd to him. It’s ripe for a character like Frank to come in and shit on that.”

He also clarifies that Daredevil and Punisher are enemies in this next season. They will not be teaming up to fight crime this time around. Bernthal explains:

"What’s really interesting is that these guys are absolute enemies, but they start to understand each other."

Jon Bernthal joins Charlie Cox, Elodie Yung, and more in season two of Daredevil, which is set to premiere on March 18th, 2016 on Netflix.
