Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni Say George Lucas Would Be the Ultimate Dream Cameo in THE MANDALORIAN
One of the coolest parts of watching the hit Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian is seeing the cameos appear throughout the show. We’ve seen some awesome actors, both known from Star Wars lore and not, including Bill Burr, Matt Lanter, Richard Ayoade, Jason Sudeikis, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Biehn, and Sasha Banks, as well as the original Jango Fett, Temuera Morrison, and Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill.
Ahead of each season, cameos are mostly kept under wraps, but in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were asked who they’d most like to have guest star, and they said George Lucas! That’s right, the creator of Star Wars, himself. EW reports:
"I tell you, we've been pretty lucky," Favreau explained. "Fortunate," Filoni added. "We have everyone from Mark Hamill to Werner Herzog," Favreau added. "Amy Sedaris," Filoni mentioned. "But she's just Star Wars fabric now. Like she had no idea and now she's in it, which I love 'cause she's awesome." That's when Favreau chimed in with the definitive answer: "George," he said with a laugh. "George Lucas. That would be the best cameo." Filoni suggested, "He'd have to be the son of Baron Papanoida or something like that. I don't know, I wouldn't even speculate on that. It's hard for me to imagine what that day would be like." Favreau added, "Well, he's been on the set when Dave's been directing, so I love watching Dave and George together."
I think it would be awesome to see George Lucas appear in some capacity in The Mandalorian! Who would you like to see him play? You can watch the full interview below:
