Jon Favreau Confirms He Will Direct an Episode of THE MANDALORIAN in Season 2

Star Wars fans are very excited for The Mandalorian, the first live-action series for Star Wars and one of the launch series for Disney+ which is launching this November. Jon Favreau served as a showrunner for the first season, and it looks like he will be directing an episode for the second season. He told EW:

We’re working on season 2, writing, prepping with the directors and getting ready to direct myself, actually. I didn’t get a chance the last time around because I was doing Lion King. So I’ll step in for one of them.

Favreau confirmed a couple months ago that he’s already been working on writing The Mandalorian Season 2, and while Disney hasn’t announced that it’s been given the official greenlight, I wouldn’t be shocked to hear that it does happen given the hype already being generated.

The show is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order and here’s the synopsis:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Some of the directors for the first season of The Mandalorian include Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi. You can watch the first season on Disney+ on November 12.
