Jon Favreau Discusses How Grogu Leveling Up in THE MANDALORIAN Season 3 Will Change The Dynamic
Grogu is 50 years old and he’s got some Jedi training under his belt thanks to the time that he spent with Luke Skywalker. When we see Grogu in the first episode of The Mandalorian Season 3 we can see that he’s grown up a bit and over the course of the season he’s going to grow up some more.
During an interview with USA Today, writer, showrunner, and producer Jon Favreau teased Grogu’s growth saying he’s “no longer this helpless little child” that he appeared to be in past seasons, and that “he’s leveled up a bit,” which is going to change the nature of his relationship with his guardian, Din Djarin.
Favreau explains: “They have to figure out how they fit together now that it’s no longer a parent and an infant, but a maturing child that can be useful and an apprentice to him. How does that change the dynamic?”
I have a feeling we’re going to see Grogu being involved a bit more. Instead of watching Mando do his thing, Grogu will jump into the action because he’s gotten a little more confident in his abilities now. At the same time, Grogu still has that delightful and playful childlike temperament and personality.
According to Pedro Pascal, Mando is in “a better place than he was before,” and he talks about being reunited with Grogu, saying, “He's reunited with Grogu, which is a very healthy thing for him.” The actor also explained that the characters evolved from being “so fixated in the Way being one way, essentially” to “just this wet puppy sponge armored from head to toe, learning and learning and learning.”
It’s going to be really interesting and fun to watch how Grogu continues to evolve and grow over the current season and see how the dynamic between him and Mando is going to change. What do you expect to see from Grogu by the end of the season?
