Jon Favreau Has Not Mapped Out an Ending for THE MANDALORIAN

Star Wars fans have enjoyed the first two seasons of The Mandalorian because the show brought back the true spirit and tone of Star Wars, and it was lovingly embraced by fans after Lucasfilm completed their sequel trilogy, which was kind of a mess.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni helped save the Star Wars franchise with their series and there are no plans that they are going to stop anytime soon. Season 3 is coming next month, and Favreau has already finished writing Season 4. So, what’s the end game for this story? Well, as of right now, there isn’t one.

During a recent interview on The Inside Total Film podcast, Favreau was asked about when the series will finish, and he shared that he doesn’t have an ending planned for The Mandalorian. He believes a natural conclusion will come over time.

“I think the beauty of this is that it’s a middle chapter of a much larger story, and though we’ll have resolution over time with these characters, I think…how these characters fit into the larger scope and scale, but it’s not like there’s a finale that we’re building to that I have in mind.”

Favreau went on to express how much he enjoys telling stories in The Mandalorian universe, and says that the character could be around for a while:

“I love for these stories to go on and on, and so these characters potentially could be with us for a while, and I really love telling stories in their voice, and I love the way the adventures unfold and I’m looking forward to doing much more.”

Hearing that makes me happy. It sounds like fans are going to get to continue this journey with Mando and Grogu for years to come! So cool!

The upcoming third season sees the journey of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu continue as their adventure takes them to Mandalore where Mando hopes that he will be "forgiven for his transgressions." It also sees Mando stepping into a leadership position, and Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) dealing with the disappointment of not taking back the Darksaber.

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

Season 3’s directorial lineup includes returning filmmakers Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with Star Wars newcomers Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), and Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison.

The Mandalorian Season 3 will debut on Disney+ on March 1st!
