Jon Hamm Is Fletch in the New Crime Comedy CONFESS, FLETCH
Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming crime comedy Confess, Fletch, which gives us a new story about LA Times reporter Irwin M. "Fletch" Fletcher. The character made his film debut in the 1985 comedy Fletch with Chevy Chase, and that was followed by Fletch Lives.
Jon Hamm takes on the role of the character in this new fil,m and while I think Hamm is great and it’s fun to see him in the role, he’s no Chevy Chase. Chase was just so damn hilarious as Fletch, and Hamm just can’t match that comedic timing and energy. Regardless of that, I’m still looking forward to watching the movie. It looks like it’ll bring some comedic entertainment.
Here’s the synopsis:
In this delightful comedy romp, Jon Hamm stars as the roguishly charming and endlessly troublesome Fletch, who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case while searching for a stolen art collection. The only way to prove his innocence? Find out which of the long list of suspects is the culprit - from the eccentric art dealer and a missing playboy to a crazy neighbor and Fletch’s Italian girlfriend. Crime, in fact, has never been this disorganized.
The movie is directed by Greg Mottola (The Daytrippers, Superbad, Adventureland, Paul, and Keeping Up with the Joneses), and Hamm is joined by Marcia Gay Harden, Kyle MacLachlan, Roy Wood Jr., John Slattery, Ayden Mayeri, Lorenza Izzo, and Annie Mumolo.
Paramount will release Confess, Fletch in select US theaters and on VOD starting September 16th, 2022.
