Jon Hamm to Star in Hollywood Blacklist Scripted Podcast THE BIG LIE at Audible

Actor Jon Hamm (Mad Men) has signed on to star in the scripted Audible podcast The Big Lie, based on the Blacklisted Hollywood film, Salt of the Earth. Hamm will play FBI agent Jack Bergin, who trying to shut it down. The seven-part audio drama series was created by John Mankiewicz, a relative of Citizen Kane co-screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz.

Hamm is joined by co-stars Kate Mara, Ana de la Reguera, John Slattery, Bradley Whitford, Lisa Edelstein, Giancarlo Esposito and David Strathairn.

The Big Lie is set in 1950s Hollywood at the height of the “Red Scare,” as a trio of outcast filmmakers try to make a movie that dramatized their pro-labor, pro-feminist beliefs while suffering a conspiracy of active sabotage efforts from the U.S. government, the Hollywood studio system and Howard Hughes. Denounced on the floor of Congress, confronted with riots, shootings and arson, the cast and crew risked their lives to produce Salt of the Earth.

This sounds like a pretty interesting series. Will you be checking it out? The Big Lie will launch June 16th.
