Jon Heder Fights Back Against Small Town Bullies in the Wild New Trailer for TAPAWINGO
Foggy Bottom Pictures has dropped a new trailer for the kooky indie comedy Tapawingo, giving fans another dose of the offbeat charm that made Jon Heder a cult favorite.
After spending a few years in limbo, the film is finally landing on VOD this December, and this thing looks wonderfully weird. If you loved the awkward sweetness of Napoleon Dynamite era Heder, This movie leans into that oddball energy.
The film centers on Nate Skoog, played by Heder, an eccentric 30 year old who still lives with his mom and works in a monotonous mailroom job. Nate is drifting through life until his boss asks him to pick up his son, Oswalt, from school. That single favor spirals into something much bigger once Nate realizes the kid is being tormented by a ruthless group of bullies.
Nate decides to take action and he recruits a crew of lovable misfits and forms a makeshift security detail to guard Oswalt. The plan seems simple enough until they discover the bully network terrorizing the kid has way more influence and control around town than they expected.
The cast supporting Heder includes Jay Pichardo, Kim Matula, Sawyer Williams, George Psarras, Paul Psarras, Amanda Bearse, Chad Dukes, John Ratzenberger, along with Gina Gershon and Billy Zane.
The movie has a simple, almost handmade look but the vibe is upbeat, strange, and full of personality which honestly feels refreshing.
Tapawingo comes from indie director Dylan K. Narang and while it was filmed years ago, the movie is finally seeing the light of day and seems ready to find its audience.
According to the official synopsis: “Nate Skoog (starring Jon Heder), an eccentric 30 year old, finds himself living with his mother and stuck in a mundane job in a mailroom.
“Nate's life takes an unexpected twist when his boss tasks him to pick up Oswalt, his son, from school. When he discovers Oswalt is the subject of relentless bullying at school, Nate assembles a team of misfits to ensure Oswalt's safety, forming an unconventional security detail.
“Their journey takes an unexpected turn when they discover that the network of bullies targeting Oswalt wields more power and influence than they initially thought.”
Foggy Bottom Pictures will release Tapawingo direct to VOD on December 2nd, 2025.
