Jonathan Majors Explains What's Going On With Kang the Conqueror in ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA

We are just weeks away from Marvel’s next big screen debut, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which promises to be the biggest Ant-Man movie yet, with the baddest villain and the most at stake. In the film, “Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.”

The biggest obstacle the superheroes will face is the nemesis Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, who is trapped in the Quantum Realm. The actor sat down with Fandango recently alongside his co-stars, and he talked about the character, and where he is when we find him:

"Well, they come down to the Quantum Realm, the Quantum Realm is my current domain. It's where I am. And as the title says, I've conquered it. So, he's a man isolated. Just there. Working it out."

He went on to add:

"Here's the thing with villains, right? Or, with any character. But, particularly with villains. Yes, there is the manifestation of power. But, the internal power is really the drive. You know? And I think with Kang, something I found so interesting was that his pain and suffering and discomfort and frustration with society and the world is so great in him that [those qualities] have allowed him to make himself into the supervillain that you see. It is that internal friction that gives him that power. Now, how it manifests? Stay tuned! Yeah, his heartache is great and so massive that he does live up to that title of being the biggest, baddest MCU villain that we've had."

To say this is the biggest and baddest MCU villain is a bold claim! Thanos was pretty dang menacing and did devastating damage, so I am both scared and excited to see what Kang is bringing to the table!

We will find out soon, when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania opens in theaters on February 17, 2023.
