Jonathan Majors Plays Coy About Possible Kang Return to the MCU
Jonathan Majors, who brought Loki’s He Who Remains and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’s Kang the Conqueror to life, is once again at the center of speculation about his Marvel future. And this time, he’s not exactly denying anything.
In a new interview with The U.S. Sun, Majors was asked point-blank if there’s a chance he’ll return to the MCU as Kang. According to the outlet, the actor “grinned ear-to-ear” before offering a teasing, “I cannot say anything about that,” while “trying to play coy but unable to hide his smile.”
When pressed further, Majors added, “Well, it’s a Multiverse, so there’s always that. Always a lot of opportunity for that.” He also said he was “very glad” to hear that many fans still want to see him back as the time-traveling villain.
Majors’ future with Marvel became uncertain in December 2023 when the actor was found guilty of one count of reckless assault in the third degree and a violation of harassment following an altercation with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Shortly after the verdict, Marvel Studios cut ties with him.
Majors has since completed a 52-week domestic violence intervention program and kept a relatively low profile. His indie film Magazine Dreams was quietly released despite earlier Oscar hopes, and now the actor is carefully navigating a comeback.
Earlier this year, Majors recalled the moment he found out his time in the MCU had ended. “He goes, ‘I’m just gonna tell you now,’” Majors said, quoting a member of his legal team. “‘That way you’re not surprised, and you can start processing it. They fired you. Marvel fired you.’”
Reflecting on that painful period, Majors admitted, “There were days when it was like, ‘Is this real?’ It’s a heartbreak like I’ve never experienced and it just compounded and compounded.”
Despite that heartbreak, the actor is already eyeing new opportunities. “No relation to the big guys, DC or Marvel, but a pretty wicked story,” Majors teased about another superhero project he’s reading.
“I’m glad to be reading.” He added, “Sometimes it feels like it’s not going to happen. And sometimes it feels like we start next week.”
As for Kang, fans are still wondering how Marvel will handle the fallout from Quantumania and Loki. The studio’s next Avengers movie was once titled The Kang Dynasty but has since been renamed Avengers: Doomsday, and the whole story is making a pivot to Doctor Doom as the Multiverse Saga’s big bad. Still, in the vast possibilities of the MCU, a Kang cameo isn’t completely off the table.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on December 17, 2027. We’ll just have to wait and see if Jonathan Majors ends up showing up at some point to completely close out that Kang story arc that was started.
