Jordan Peele is in Talks To Produce a Remake of The Horror Film CANDYMAN
As much as Jordan Peele talks about focusing on creating original content for Hollywood, even he isn't immune to attaching himself to a remake of something. According to Bloody-Disgusting, Peele is in talks to produce a remake of the classic Clive Barker horror film Candyman.
I actually enjoyed the Candyman films. It's been years since I've seen them, but I remember liking them. The franchise has been dormant for 20 years and now Hollywood is looking to bring it back and with Peele involved, the producers are looking to do it in a big way.
Candyman was based on author Clive Barker’s short story The Forbidden which is one of the stories from his Books of Blood short story collections. The story for the original film follows graduate student who is writing a research about local legends and myths in Chicago. While researching about the project, she meets someone who tells her about the urban legend The Candyman, an artist and a son of a slave who had his hand severed and was then murdered by his lover’s father. Legend says that he will appear if you say his name five times in front a mirror.
The original film starred Tony Todd (Final Destination), Virginia Madsen (Sideways) as Helen and Vanessa Williams (The Flash) as Anne-Marie McCoy. There were two sequels made titled Farewell to the Flesh and Day of the Dead.
Peele is currently developing several projects at the moment including the social thriller film US, which co-stars Elisabeth Moss as well Black Panther's Lupita Nyong-o and Winston Duke. He's also producing a revival of The Twilight Zone.
What do you all think about the possibility of seeing Peele develop a remake of Candyman?
