Jordan Peele Talks About NOPE and Teases "an Epic and Otherworldly Confrontation"
There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror thriller Nope, but thanks to the teaser trailer, we do know that it involves aliens terrorizing the residents of a small town in California.
In a recent interview with Empire, Peele continues to tease the film’s story and what Daniel Kaluuya’s character will be confronting in the movie. He said:
“I wrote NOPE with Daniel in mind for the role – a humble man destined for an epic and otherworldly confrontation. Daniel’s craft is on a different level, but it’s his warmth that grounds audiences even during points of absolute madness. You may be watching a nightmare, but when he’s on screen, at least you’ve got your brother with you, and that’s all you need.”
The story centers on Kaluuya and Keke Palmer’s characters, and the film is set at a horse training ranch that they run for Hollywood productions. Steven Yeun also stars in the film as a rodeo ringleader, and it’s said that the story focuses on “residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.”
I enjoyed the hell out of Peele’s other two movies Get Out and Us, and I’m excited to see what kind of crazy nightmarish story he brings fans this time around! Bring on the scary insanity!
The movie co-stars Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection). The film will be released by Universal Pictures worldwide. Nope will suck you into theaters on July 22nd.
