Joseph Gordon-Levitt Thinks THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Has The Perfect Ending

We were all a little sad when the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy came to an end, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt assures us it was for the best. Cinemablend sat down with the actor for a recent Snowden press interview and asked whether or not he was disappointed he didn't get to don the cape and cowl as "James Blake" (his character in The Dark Knight Rises). Levitt responded with the following:

"I know we're all used to the sort of Marvel movies, which are just kind of endless series. They don't really have a beginning, middle, and end. But I think Nolan very much thought of that movie as a conclusion, and there's a theme that runs through all three of those movies that begins in the first movie, runs through the second movie and it concludes in that moment where he says that Batman is more than a man, Batman is a symbol. And so to have another man other than Bruce Wayne kind of becoming Batman at the end of that trilogy, I think that's the perfect ending to that story."

I never thought of that! What a great answer. Nolan's trilogy was always grounded in as much realism as possible, so it's only logical that Batman could only be around for three major romps. I think Gordon-Levitt has given me a new perspective on the Batman trilogy that makes me want to rewatch the series.
