Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Direct and Star in a Musical Comedy Called WINGMAN with Channing Tatum
I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a hell of talented actor and entertainer, and it looks like he's going to take on a new directing adventure. He's currently in negotiations to direct an R-rated musical comedy for Universal Pictures called Wingman, which he's already set to star in alongside Channing Tatum.
According to Variety, the story follows "two pilots who crash-land in Las Vegas. According to sources, the film is in the vein of Pitch Perfect meets Book of Mormon, with the dup covering Top 100 hits with a touch of adult humor."
Gordon-Levitt and Tatum have both shown they have a talent for singing and dancing, and this seems like a great match-up that will deliver some incredibly fun and amusing entertainment.
The pitch came from 21 Jump Street writer Michael Bacall, and several studios got in a bidding war over it before it landed at Universal.
I hope that Gordon-Levitt takes the directing gig! He made his directorial debut with the romantic comedy Don Jon, and a film like Wingman is a project that I think he would be the perfect director for.
