Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro Kidnap The Daughter of a Drug Cartel Kingpin in New Trailer For SICARIO 2
We've got another great new trailer for you to watch for the Sicario sequel and it comes with a brand new title. Sicario 2: Soldado is now called Sicario: Day of the Soldado and it looks so freakin' good. This trailer certainly brings the intensity.
Josh Brolin previously talked about the film and explained that the sequel would be “more severe” and “much bigger” than the first movie. Benicio Del Toro went on to say that while Sicario was more of a “really hardcore straight line,” this sequel “is a little more complicated.” You'll definitely be able to see the complication in this trailer as the two characters that these actors play, Alejandro and CIA operative Matt Graver, kidnap the daughter of a drug cartel kingpin. Things are gonna get messy.
While talking to USA Today about the film, Del Toro explains, "This is a man bent on revenge for what the cartels have done, killing his daughter and family. Now he finds himself on a new assignment."
Graver ends up hiring Alejandro to start a war between the dueling drug cartels, and kidnapping the daughter of one of them is the way he goes about doing that. Then things take an interesting turn. After the mission is exposed, Gravers orders Alejandro to kill Isabela, and that's when the shit really hits the fan. Del Toro goes on to say:
"He has the chance for an eye for an eye, but sees a young girl going through what his daughter went through. He has to decide to follow orders or protect the girl. It's just one thing about this screenplay that makes it interesting."
I can't wait to watch this! The movie was directed by Stefano Sollima (Gomorra, A.C.A.B.) from a script that was once again written by Taylor Sheridan (Wind River). The movie also stars Matthew Modine (Stranger Things, Full Metal Jacket), Catherine Keener (Get Out, The 40 Year Old Virgin), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Magnificent Seven, Murder on the Orient Express) and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice, Fargo).
Sicario 2: Soldado will be released on June 29, 2018.
