Josh Brolin Says AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Was Inspired By THE GODFATHER and That It's "Next Level"

I can't wait to see Josh Brolin in full on action as Thanos! That's one of the most exciting things for me regarding the upcoming Marvel films. We will see the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy battling him and his thugs in Avengers: Infinity War and there's no doubt it's going to be an incredible experience for all the Marvel movie fans.

Josh Brolin manages to get fans pumped up even more with recent statements that he has made in an interview with Collider. In the interview, he talks about playing the villain and how it's been one of the greatest experiences of his life. When talking about working with director Joe Russo, he revealed that as he was directing the film, he was always referencing The Godfather.

“Look, I got Joe Russo who’s constantly resourcing like The Godfather and, ‘You have a gun to his fucking head.’ I’m like, ‘I love you so much. The fact that you’re taking an Avengers scenario and you’re turning it into a Godfather thing for us to be able to kind of hang our hat on is great, and to emotionalize the whole thing.’ I think they were very happy where they said, ‘We didn’t really realize that Thanos is going to be as complex as he is,’ and I think they were very appreciative with the stuff that we’re bringing to it. Also, I think that they’re in a position very openly and raw-ly where they’re like, ‘We would never do this again. This is a one-time deal. To put this many successful actors together is such a pain in the ass, but it’s been worth it. We’re doing two movies. One back to back, and this is it for us. Then we’ll go off in another direction,’ but this is a very, very, very ambitious project that I think is going to pay off in a big way.”

The Godfather is one of my favorite films, so the fact that it's inspiring the direction of the upcoming Avengers films is exciting. Brolin is then asked about being able to pull off making Thanos a scary, real, complex character, and it's here that he says that this movie takes things to the next level.

“I can’t tell you definitively, but how I feel right now and what I’ve spoken to the Russos about and Feige, absolutely. It actually more than pulls it off, and I think what they’re coming up with based on what I’ve done, I think is next level.”

Our expectations are through the roof for these next two Avengers films, and after what Brolin had to say about the movie, it sounds like the creative team might actually deliver a film that goes beyond those expectations.

What do you think about Brolin's statements about Thanos and Avengers: Infinity War?
