Josh Brolin on Almost Being Cast as Batman in Zack Snyder's BATMAN V. SUPERMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE
Josh Brolin is forever known as the MCU’s biggest villain, Thanos, who wiped out have the universe with his snap, and ultimately took out one of our favorite superheroes in the war against him. But he almost played a good guy in the DCU, when he was up for the role of Batman in director Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
The actor opened up about the missed opportunity in a recent appearance on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Deadline), saying he found the role very interesting, and describing how he would have approached it:
“It would have been the older, the more raspy, for lack of a better word.”
He went on to say of Snyder’s eventual choice:
“That was his decision, that wasn’t my decision. Honestly, that would have been a fun deal. And maybe I’ll do it when I’m 80.”
An 80-year -ld Batman doesn’t sound super exciting, so maybe the ship has sailed for Brolin when it comes to playing the caped crusader. But it’s not like he’s hurting for work. Brolin was recently was seen on the big screen in Dune and is currently in pre-production on Dune: Part Two. He stars in Prime Video’s supernatural Western series, Outer Range, which just premiered, which he also executive produces. He’s also an executive producer on George and Tammy, an upcoming country music drama series co-produced by Spectrum Originals and Paramount Network.
