Josh Brolin Wishes He Could Have Been in DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE as Cable
With all the cameos that graced the screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, it wouldn’t have been surprising to see Josh Brolin return to the role of Cable, which he played in Deadpool 2.
It would have been funny to see Brolin return to the MCU after having played the most formidable villain ever with Thanos, then just show up to be the badass character Cable.
I’m sure Deadpool would have had a good time poking fun at that dynamic, but unfortunately, Brolin wasn’t able to make it work.
In a recent interview with Bingeworthy TV (via CB), the actor admitted that he really wanted to be involved in some way, but his schedule shooting both Dune: Part Two and Outer Range were too much to contend with.
The podcast asked him how he ended up on the IMDb page for Deadpool & Wolverine, and Brolin said, "I so wanted to be in that movie." So he was probably in talks with Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy, and he planned on being in it if his schedule had permitted it. He went on to say:
"[Marvel] is a more complex labyrinth than Outer Range will ever be, my friend. And I will never know where that went or what that is or what I'm involved with or what I'm not involved with – the MCU being so involved now… Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role. That was a lot of fun."
I bet there’s a good chance we see Cable again, especially with the interdimensional route the MCU is taking in the coming phases. I look forward to seeing how it all unfolds. The interview went on, and Brolin was surprised when the interviewer pointed out that Thanos was the most killed MCU villain in the history of the franchise. He responded:
"You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they're gonna bring him back. And there's the What If...? series, and that's a different kind of Thanos and all that. But I don't know in the Marvel world whether they're going to bring him back, but I didn't know that he was the most killed-off Marvel villain... You learn something new every day."
Indeed you do. Would you like to see Cable and/or Thanos return to the MCU?
