Josh Gad Is Set to Star in Roland Emmerich’s Disaster Thriller MOONFALL
Director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Midway) is making another disaster thriller titled Moonfall, and Josh Gad cast is set to star in it. I honestly never expected to see Gad star in a Roland Emmerich film, but here we are!
The film is set up at Lionsgate, and the story is set in motion “when the moon is knocked from its orbit by a mysterious force and is on a collision course with Earth. Life as we know it hangs in the balance and with just weeks to go before impact, a ragtag team is sent on a seemingly impossible mission to land on the lunar surface and save humanity.”
It’s explained that Gad’s character, KC Houseman, “is the first person cast in the ensemble. The character is described as “odd and unkempt in a way that suggests a high level of intelligence and an equally high level of disorganization. He is a genius who correctly predicts that the moon has fallen out of its orbit, thus making the space-obsessed, profoundly unfiltered and eccentric man one of the most important people on Earth.”
I don’t really care for the films that Emmerich makes, and this Moonfall movie sounds a lot like the same plot for Michael Bay’s Armageddon, except it’s the moon instead of an asteroid. It seems like Emmerich is retreading Bay’s past films. The last one was the WWII film Midway, which gave us a new take on the attack on Pearl Harbor, just like Bay’s film Pearl Harbor.
