Josh Gad Joins Marvel Studios' WONDER MAN Series

It looks like Josh Gad (Frozen, Beauty and the Beast) is jumping into the MCU with Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man. The news was revealed by entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast. There’s no confirmation of who he’s playing, but it’s speculated that he could be playing the talent agent of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Simon Williams aka Wonder Man.

Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is developing the series as a producer and Andrew Guest (Hawkeye) is serving as head writer and executive producer. It was already revealed that Ben Kingsley is also set to reprise his role of Trevor Slattery in the movie. The series cast also includes Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, and Lauren Glazier.

The series will focus on the Marvel character Simon Williams, a.k.a. Wonder Man. In the comics, he is “the son of a wealthy industrialist whose company falls on hard times due to competition from Tony Stark’s Stark Industries. As a result, Williams accepts an offer from villain Baron Zemo that gives him ionic superpowers including super strength and durability. After fighting the Avengers several times, Wonder Man ultimately joined their ranks.”

Wonder Man was also an actor and stuntman in the comics, so it makes sense that Kingsley’s Slattery would be involved as he’s also an actor.

Gad is a fun actor to watch in the projects that he’s a part of and it will be interesting to see who he’ll be playing in the show!
