Josh Gad to Star in GILLIGAN'S ISLAND Film

Via: Deadline

After all these years the classic 1960s TV series Gilligan's Island is set to get an updated feature film adaptation. Warner Bros. is developing the project and they've just set Josh Gad to co-write and star in the film. Gad is best known for his role in Book of Mormon, and he most recently hilariously voiced the snowman Olaf in Disney's Frozen.

Gad will write the script alongside Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez. The series was about seven castaways who end up stranded on a little island after a crazy storm hit what was supposed to be a three hour cruise on the S.S. Minnow.

There is no information on who Gad would be playing, but his personality seems to fit Gilligan. Of course, he could also end up playing The Skipper because of his physical build.

The original Sherwood Schwartz series starred Bob Denver as Gilligan, Alan Hale Jr as the Skipper, Jim Backus and Natalie Schafer as Thurston and Lovey Howell, Dawn Wells as Mary Ann, and Tina Louise as Ginger. The show lasted three seasons.

I grew up watching reruns of the series. I watched it all the time. It was one of those shows that just always seemed to be on. Gad is a very funny and talented guy, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he brings this to life.
