Josh Hutcherson Says He Almost Played Kevin McCallister in a HOME ALONE Franchise Sequel

Actor Josh Hutcherson, best known for his role in the Hunger Games franchise, and most recently in the first Five Nights at Freddy’s film, recently revealed that his first rejection in the film industry came when he auditioned for the role of Kevin McCallister in the third Home Alone movie.

The actor explained in an interview at BuzzFeed HQ:

“I was probably 11, I think, when I auditioned for it. It got down to me and the other guy. That was the first time that I tasted rejection, so that was really hard.”

The first two films were made famous with Macaulay Culkin in the lead. Then Alex D. Linz starred in 1997’s Home Alone 3, and three other movies followed in the series with different casts. Though I’m sure it was a bummer for him as a kid, it probably had no effect on his career, as no one really counts anything after Home Alone 2 as the same kind of movie magic that the first two captured.

Hutcherson’s acting career began when he was a kid with parts on ER and in the TV movie House Blend. Then he was in the 2007 fantasy film Bridge to Terabithia, followed by Journey to the Center of the Earth and Zathura: A Space Adventure. He currently stars in the action thriller The Beekeeper opposite Jason Statham.
