Josh Trank Talks About Clashing with Miles Teller on The Set of FANTASTIC FOUR
It’s no secret that there were a lot of issues and drama on the set of Fantastic Four. Almost everyone involved with the project has pointed their fingers at director Josh Trank for being the cause of many of these problems. Josh Trank, however, has been pointing the finger at everyone else.
Trank also clashed with some of the cast members because he was reportedly telling the actors when to blink and breathe while they were shooting the movie.
Trank sent out a tweet after the movie was released saying that he had “a fantastic version” that we would “probably never see.” Well, just before Fantastic Four hit theaters, Trank sent an email to some members of the cast and crew to say he was proud of the film, and told them it was "better than 99 percent of the comic-book movies ever made." One of those actors replied with the response, “I don’t think so.”
It's believed by many that response came from Miles Teller, and it was also reported that he and Trank got into some sort of physical altercation on set. When asked about this during an interview with Polygon, the site says that Teller took a "I'm-a-movie-star-now approach to acting, which involved questioning even the most low-impact performance requests." That’s the claim that Trank made that reportedly led to this clash.
The director never clarifies whether things between he and Teller got physical but, the report describes it as "a moment of miscommunication between two Type-A personalities." I would love to hear Teller’s side of the story on this!
Trank went on to tell the outlet that he doesn't recall ever receiving a single complaint from the studio during his 72-day shoot, and in regards to hiding in a tent while shooting, he explained that he "built a black tent around his monitor" as traditional video village, because sometimes, "you can’t actually be out standing next to the camera because the camera’s on a [frick]ing dolly."
So, in the end, Teller and Trank clashed over their personalities, which is something I can see because that happens all the time. The big difference is, people still like to work with Teller, while the number of people who want to work with Trank is few.
