Joss Whedon Wants to Make Original Content When He's Done with THE AVENGERS

Movie Joss Whedon by Joey Paur

Joss Whedon initially signed a contract with Marvel through 2015, and it looks like he's already looking ahead to what he's going to do his contract is up, and he's finished with Avengers: Age of Ultron. He could always get a new contract together, but he told EW in an interview that he's looking forward to taking on an original project, which is something I think he should do! This guy is full of great ideas! When asked about it, he said,

“There’s probably a dozen [properties I’ve always wanted to do]. It’s very important I don’t do that. It’s very important that we start creating new content again. We can only build on nostalgia so much before we have nothing left to build on. Before we’re rebooting Spider-Man—again. It’s dangerous to the culture, and it’s boring to me. I squeezed in between my Avengers movies a 400-year-old play. So I really need to create some new worlds.”

He's then asked what he would do if Disney asked him to make a Boba Fett movie, and this was his reply,

"I can’t say for sure, because that’s a tasty morsel. But right now my heart doesn’t go that way."
He's also asked about his proposed Hamlet project, which is something it doesn't sound like he's ready to take on yet.

"That’s a giant endeavor, and I’m not planning any giant endeavors. I feel like some of the family stuff in [Hamlet] is even more twisted than we give it credit for. [My version] is no darker than any other vision, in certain respects. If everything works out according to plan, S.H.I.E.L.D. will be on when the movie is over and then I’ll already be too busy."
He's been working on that Hamlet project for 15 years. It's a passion project that I'm sure he'll get around to making one day. I'm just excited to see what other original stories Whedon is planning to tell. He can always come back to Marvel if he wants.

Would you want to see Whedon stay with Marvel, or would you like to see him move on to other things and never go back?
