Joss Whedon Was Already Working on JUSTICE LEAGUE Before He Replaced Zack Snyder

Earlier this week we learned that Zack Snyder stepped down as the director of Justice League to be with his family after his daughter tragically committed suicide in March. I can't even imagine what Snyder and his family are going through, and it's good to know that he is now taking the time to focus on his family and healing.

Snyder recently thanked fans for all their support during this time. He previously said that he wants to be where he is needed most these days, and that's not in a director's chair.

Joss Whedon will be taking over the directing duties for Snyder and a lot of fans have been wondering what he will actually be doing. As it turns out, he had already been working on the project before Snyder stepped away. Variety had a chance to talk to producer Charles Roven at the Wonder Woman premiere and when asked about Whedon taking over, he said:

“We’re excited about the film, of course - but we were saddened by the events that caused Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder to have to leave and turn the reins over to Joss Whedon."

He then added:

"He was already working with us on some of the scenes for that additional photography that we’re going to be doing shortly. It was fortunate that Zack convinced him, and he agreed to step in and finish the movie - to help Zack finish his vision. We’re excited about that.”

So Whedon won't just be overlooking the post-production process of the film. He'll also be directing the additional scenes that they will be shooting soon. It's interesting to hear that Whedon has already been involved with the development. As you know, Whedon is also writing and directing Batgirl. It's pretty awesome that Whedon will be bringing his filmmaking talents and style to the DCEU.
