Jude Law Shares that Grindelwald and Dumbledore Won't Be Seen Together in FANTASTIC BEASTS 2

Harry Potter fans are sure to be excited for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It is the highly anticipated sequel to the first spin-off film of the franchise. One thing that may confuse fans is the fact that Grindelwald and Dumbledore won’t be in any scenes together. Grindelwald will be played by Johnny Depp and Dumbledore is played by Jude Law who said this while talking to Entertainment Weekly:

I don’t actually have any scenes with Johnny. As I said before, this is only Part 2 of a longer story. I’ve always admired him from afar, but we don’t know each other, and I’ve not yet met him on this. In many ways that suits the relationship as it’s been many years since they’ve seen each other. So there’s complexity in that that’s fun to mine. Again, the past will reveal itself.

Two big names with a history not sharing scenes? Sounds like an interesting move, but I’m sure that their paths will cross in future Fantastic Beast films. The nice thing about this for the studio is that it helps them gloss over Dumbledore’s history with Grindelwald which includes a shared romantic past. This romantic past is also a point of controversy which may explain the route they’re taking.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will release November 16, 2018.
