Jude Law is in talks to play the classic Disney villain, Captain Hook, its upcoming live-action Peter Pan film Peter Pan & Wendy. Joaquin Phoenix was previously up for the role, but I guess he ended up passing on it, which was expected. Playing a character like Captain Hook dosen’t seem like a character he would play. It’s ok, though, Law is a solid choice and it’s not hard to imagine him in the role.

The movie is coming from Pete’s Dragon director David Lowery is set to direct the project from a script he co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks. I’ve enjoyed Lowery’s film work. Pete’s Dragon was a wonderful film and he also previously made Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Pete’s Dragon, A Ghost Story, and The Old Man & The Gun.

This version of Captain Hook was previously described as, "an unhinged, dramatic, and menacing swordsman, who is out to seek revenge on Peter Pan for cutting his hand off and feeding it to a crocodile. When Hook takes Wendy’s brothers John and Michael hostage he uses them as bait to lure Peter Pan.”

Disney’s classic 1953 animated film is a classic and remains the most successful adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s novel about the boy who wouldn’t age and the Lost Boys who live and play the magical world of Neverland.

Disney plans on releasing this film theatrically and not on Disney+. What do you think about Law taking on the role of Captain Hook?
