Judy Greer To Reprise Her Chimp Role in WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES

You'd think appearing in four big movies in one summer would be a good thing, but it seems to me like actress Judy Greer — who had roles in Tomorrowland, Entourage, Jurassic World, and Ant-Man this year — got the short end of the stick with the characters she played. Vanity Fair published a nice piece that breaks down every line of dialogue she had in all of those movies, and the results aren't exactly encouraging; I'd encourage you to read that piece if you haven't already. And though Greer has been great on television in things like Arrested Development, Archer, and Married, this trend of her having disappointing roles on the big screen continues from last year's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, in which she played Cornelia, the chimpanzee wife of the ape's leader, Caesar (Andy Serkis).

She had almost nothing to do in that film, but now THR reports that she's signed on to reprise her role in Matt Reeves' sequel, War for the Planet of the Apes. Hopefully she has a much more substantial role this time around, because Greer's too good of an actress to waste her in tiny parts in which she only has five lines. She joins Serkis, Woody Harrelson, and Steve Zahn in the film, and THR also says Karin Konoval will be back to play Maurice, Caesar's wise orangutan advisor.

We just wrote about the first set photo from War yesterday, and the film hits theaters on July 14th, 2017.
