Julia Butters Join the Cast of Disney's Sequel FREAKY FRIDAY 2 in Undisclosed Role

Julia Butters, best known for her roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Gray Man, The Fabelmans, and I Think You Should Leave, has joined the cast of Disney’s sequel Freaky Friday 2.

The project was officially confirmed in March, with Nisha Ganatra (Welcome to Chippendales, The High Note, Late Night) tapped to direct.

Original stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are in talks to reprise their roles from the 2003 film.

For years, Curtis and Lohan have been vocal about their desire to reunite for a follow-up to their body-swapping comedy. In March, Curtis shared a photo with Lohan to Instagram, tagging Disney and captioning the snap, “DUH! FFDEUX!”

Freaky Friday followed Curtis as straitlaced mom Tess and Lohan as rebellious daughter Anna. When a mystical fortune cookie forces them to swap bodies, the duo must learn to accept each other unconditionally — in time for Tess’ wedding and Anna’s big gig with her band.

Butters’ role and any plot details for the sequel have yet to be revealed. Andrew Gunn, who produced the first film, is producing the sequel, along with former Disney exec Kristin Burr. Release plants have not yet been announced.
