Julia Garner Joins Blumhouse's Universal Monster Movie WOLF MAN
Julia Garner is set to star in Blumhouse’s and Universal Monster movie Wolf Man, which is coming from Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell.
Ryan Gosling was originally supposed to star in the film, but he dropped out and was replaced by Christopher Abbott, who most recently appeared in the film Poor Things. Abbot and Garner previously appeared together in the 2011 film Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene.
The script for the film was written by Whannell and Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, the latter duo previously wrote the comedic drama, Dumb Money. Gosling is still on board as an executive producer along with Jason Blum. There’s no word on who Garner will be playing in the film.
I love the original 1941 film, which was directed by George Waggner. The movie tells the story of Larry Talbot, played by Lon Chaney Jr., who returns to his ancestral home in Wales after the death of his brother. During a fateful encounter with a wolf-like creature, Larry is bitten and cursed with lycanthropy, turning into a werewolf when the full moon rises. As he struggles to control his deadly transformation, Larry becomes a menace to the local villagers.
The movie is set to be released via Universal on Friday, October 25, 2024.
