Julie Bowen Set to Lead Comedy Series at NBC Titled TASTE

Emmy Award winner Julie Bowen (Modern Family) is set to star in the NBC and Universal Television half-hour comedy series Taste, currently in development, from writers and exec producers Justin Shanes (St. Denis Medical) and Nedaa Sweiss (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon).

Bowen will also executive produce through her Bowen and Sons Production banner alongside the company’s president Rachael Field, and Top Chef EP Gail Simmons.

Taste follows the employees at a legacy food magazine in the Bay Area. When the publication is bought by a Silicon Valley tech mogul, its traditionalist editor (Bowen) is suddenly forced to work with a young, buzzy TikTok chef.

Bowen received two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Claire Dunphy on the hit ABC series Modern Family, which ended its 11-year run in 2020. She can currently be seen in the comedy horror-thriller Hysteria! on Peacock. Additional TV credits include ABC’s Boston Legal and NBC’s Ed.

On the big screen, Bowen played Virginia Venit in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore, a role she will reprise in the 2025 sequel. More recently, she starred in Mixtape and Hubie Halloween for Netflix and The Fallout for Warner Bros./MAX.
