JURASSIC WORLD 3 Will Not Include Dinosaurs Terrorizing Cities

Director Colin Trevorrow is set to return to direct the next chapter of the Jurassic World franchise. But don’t worry, he has no plans to feature the Dinosaurs rampaging through cities in Jurassic World 3.

After the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, when all of the dinosaurs break loose, seeing them terrorize a city is definitely a direction they could have taken the story. Trevorrow has a different vision, though.

During a recent interview with Jurassic Outpost, the filmmaker discussed his vision for the upcoming film, which he’s currently co-writing with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising). When asked if we would see the dinos in the big city, Trevorrow says that he has “no idea what would motivate dinosaurs to terrorize a city.” He goes on to explain:

“They can’t organize. The world I get excited about is the one where it’s possible that a dinosaur might run out in front of your car on a foggy backroad, or invade your campground looking for food.”

“A world where dinosaur interaction is unlikely but possible—the same way we watch out for bears or sharks. We hunt animals, we traffic them, we herd them, we breed them, we invade their territory and pay the price, but we don’t go to war with them. If that was the case, we’d have lost that war a long time ago.”

That makes sense. I’m just happy that it won’t be Jurassic Park: The Lost World all over again. He goes on to say that he is looking to bring this dinosaurs to environments that that we’ve never seen them in before.

“My instinct is to break the classical language of these films a bit and plunge us into a world that feels real and naturalistic. I want to go outside into environments we’ve never seen these animals in."

Trevorrow goes on to tease the fact that there will be new opportunities to explore now that “the ability to clone a dinosaur is no longer exclusive to Dr. Henry Wu.” He goes on to say that Jurassic World 3 is going to be the final film in the franchise. This movie is going to wrap it all up.

“This is the conclusion of a story that began 25 years ago, and I think fans will be fired up when they see how much we’re connecting it to the source material.”

It’ll be interesting to see what he means by that. Also, we aren’t just dealing with cloned dinos anymore. There is a cloned human in this universe that who knows how that story arc is going to play out in the third chapter!

What are you hoping to see from the story in Jurassic World 3?

Jurassic World 3 will star Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt and it’s expected to hit theaters on June 11, 2021.
