JURASSIC WORLD Director Colin Trevorrow Talks About His ATLANTIS Film Project
Director Colin Trevorrow is fresh off completing his upcoming film Jurassic World: Dominion and he’s developing his next sci-fi adventure project Atlantis. Trevorrow will direct the film from a script that was written by Dante Harper (Alien: Covenant), and it’s based on a story that Trevorrow co-wrote with Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies).
The thriller is about the legendary mythical city and this a previously released description of what the filmmaker is looking to accomplish, “Unlike previous incarnations of the mythical city as an underwater kingdom, Trevorrow’s Atlantis is set on a lost continent in the Indian Ocean between Africa, India and Oceania. It is a multicultural civilization with its own advanced technology.
Trevorrow feels that this story he wants to tell regarding Atlantis is something that is relevant for today. In a recent interview with Empire, the director opened up about his film, saying, "For a generation right now to be able to enter a world that is not unlike their world – where their elders have basically gifted them a civilization that is dying – I think it is the right moment for that story."
He went on to say that he’s “fascinated” by the Atlantis mythology, and adds, "It's the only thing that equals dinosaurs for me. I guess I tend to go back to the past. But, you know, it was the first time that we had technology. And it's at a time when we had other kinds of creatures that aren't around anymore There are just so many things about it that are fascinating to me. So yeah, I'm a deep nerd for it."
A proper Atlantis movie would be extremely cool. We’ve seen several projects set in Atlantis over the years, but nothing that’s truly been epic. I hope that Trevorrow can actually pull this off and deliver something awesome.
