JURASSIC WORLD Writer Derek Connolly is Writing The Live-Action LEGEND OF ZELDA Movie
It was recently announced that Sony Pictures was developing a live-action adaptation of Nintendo’s classic fantasy video game franchise The Legend of Zelda. It was also announced that it would be directed by Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes). We have now learned that the script for the film will be written by Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly.
Connolly is a frequent collaborator of director Colin Trevorrow and helped write a large majority of his movies including his scrapped version of Star Wars: Episode IX. Connolly also wrote the script for another Nintendo movie with Detective Pikachu.
The creative team behind The Legend of Zelda movie seems like they have the talent and skill to make a great movie. The big question is… will the studio allow them to go as epic as this movie could be? Seriously, The Legend of Zelda should be on the same scale as The Lord of the Rings. That’s just what I have envisioned in my head.
The Legend of Zelda follows the adventures of a young hero named Link, who is often tasked with rescuing Princess Zelda and battling the malevolent villain Ganon. The series is praised for its engaging, open-world exploration, intricate puzzles, and engaging storytelling. The franchise offers a timeless blend of adventure and exploration. I really hope that the creative team and the studio delivers on this one!
Legend of Zelda will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director and Fellow of Nintendo and Avi Arad, Chairman of Arad Productions Inc.
