JUSTICE LEAGUE Won't Be as Dark as BATMAN V SUPERMAN

One thing that Warner Bros. has liked to do with their superhero films is give them a dark, gritty, serious tone. We are definitely going to heavily see that in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. People have said those are some of the things that set them apart from what Marvel is doing. But WB doesn't plan on making all of their superhero films that dark.

During a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Batman v Superman screenwriter Chris Terrio says that he's going to be changing things up with the tone for Justice League, which he is also writing. He explains that he sees Batman v Superman as the middle part of a trilogy with Man of Steel and Justice League. As we all know, in most cases, the middle part of a trilogy is usually the darkest, and the plan is to lighten things up with Justice League. He says:

“Batman v Superman is a bit of an Empire Strikes Back or Two Towers or any similar middle film in a trilogy. The middle film tends to be the darkest one. I do think from Man of Steel through Justice League, it is one saga really.
“I expect Justice League will be tonally not quite as dark as Batman v Superman. From that point of view, I felt compelled to go back and try to lift us and myself into a different tonal place because I think when you write a darker film, sometimes you want to redeem it all a bit.”

It's good to know that he feels this way. We don't need a bunch of depressing dark superhero movies. Marvel has proven that you can lighten things up and have a ton of fun. That's something I wouldn't mind seeing with Justice League. I'm just excited to see where this all goes and how far Warner Bros. actually takes this plan they've put together.

The first Justice League movie will be released on November 17, 2017 and the second one will be released on June 14, 2019.
