K-Pop Star Jeon Somi to Make Acting Debut in Horror-Thriller PERFECT GIRL - “SCREAM Meets BLACK SWAN”

International K-pop sensation Jeon Somi is stepping into the world of acting with her debut role in the upcoming horror-thriller Perfect Girl. She’ll star alongside Arden Cho (KPop Demon Hunters) and Adeline Rudolph (Mortal Kombat II) in a story that blends the cutthroat world of K-pop with a chilling survival mystery.

Originally a highly sought-after BlackList script, Perfect Girl has been described as “Scream meets Black Swan.” The plot follows a new K-pop supergroup as they prepare for their debut, but with only four spots in the band and the final cut just a week away, things quickly spiral into chaos.

“With only four spots available in the band and the final cut a week away, the competition is off the charts. When a talented and mysterious new girl is introduced at the last minute, things start to get strange — girls are being hunted and attacked one by one, but who is responsible for the carnage, and more importantly…who will make the final cut?”

The film is written by Lynn Q. Yu and will be directed by Hong Won-ki (Goedam), founder of the renowned Korean production company Zanybros. Production duties are being shared by Badlands, John Wick studio Thunder Road, and Cho herself.

To make things even more exciting, the movie will include six original songs “blending the worlds of music and film.” It hasn’t been confirmed yet whether Somi or Cho will lend their voices to the soundtrack. Filming begins October 27 in Asia.

For Somi, this marks a huge step in an already impressive career. The Canadian-Dutch-Korean artist skyrocketed to fame after winning the hit reality competition Produce 101, debuting with the group I.O.I before launching her solo career.

She’s released multiple chart-topping singles like “Birthday”, “What You Waiting For”, and “Dumb Dumb”, cementing herself as a powerhouse in the K-pop world.

Producer Scott Strauss of Badlands couldn’t be more thrilled about her joining the cast: “We are so excited Jeon Somi is making her film debut in Perfect Girl. She is a one-of-a-kind talent whose chemistry with Arden and Adeline is off the charts. The three will elevate our chills, thrills, and drama and collaborate with Director Hong to ensure an authentic portrayal of Korean culture and the world of K-pop.”

With its mix of dark psychological thrills, the brutal competitiveness of the idol industry, and Somi’s highly anticipated big-screen debut, Perfect Girl could make for an interesting movie.
